To The Lighthouse

This book jacket redesign was a typographic project that involved creating letterforms out of physical materials and photographing them. Based on the themes of Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse, I chose sand as the primary material to represent the significance of the passage of time in the novel. To achieve the appearance of letter-shaped sandcastles, the letters were constructed using kinetic sand and made to resemble the Fidra typeface.
