This hardcover book was created as a final project for my Typography I course. The text comes from a National Geographic article titled “These Bolivian Skateboarders use Indigenous Attire to Battle Discrimination” that follows the story of ImillaSkate, a Bolivian skateboarding group of young girls.
With this assignment, I was challenged to use only typography as image. Throughout the spreads, there is heavy usage of fabric and yarn, as well as gravel and grip tape in order to capture the contrasting themes of tradition and modernity explored in the article.
